slayingbeyonce said: I've noticed in your past videos you wear people's cultural items as if they're a trend, I'm assuming without knowing the meaning behind it. Do you ever think about how offensive that comes off? I know for a fact that if I seen some white girl with a dashiki and a head wrap made from kente fabric I would bitchslap her. My culture is my identity, it's who I am,& I will be damned if someone took that away from me. Don't you have your own?
I will first start off by apologizing, I never meant to personally offend you or your culture in anyway. With that being said, I can honestly say yes, in some of my past videos, I would purchase items from the thrift store because they “looked” cool. I never did research as to what the item was or took into consideration how me wearing that item would effect other people.
To answer your question, yes I do have my “own” culture, that I’ve pieced together from a variety of cultures. You see, America is what we like to call a melting pot, in which different cultures have contributed their own distinct “flavors” to create American culture. And if by embracing American culture you begin to pick up little traits from other cultures, you shouldn’t be looked down upon because someone thinks you don’t rightfully have any business being interested in that said culture because your ancestors weren’t from Asia or Africa or India etc.
I think the most disturbing part in your message was the fact that if you, “seen some white girl” wearing something you deem inappropriate for her to wear you would resort to violence (bitchslap) instead of educating her about what she was wearing and why it holds so much meaning to you.
We live in the 21st century where children today are encouraged to embrace other cultures and learn about other people’s past. I know some people hate cultural appropriation but the truth of the matter is, it’s going to continue to happen. And sending one message to me about how four years ago I wore something you didn’t think was appropriate isn’t going to change the situation. I’m a tiny microscopic piece in this ever growing puzzle we call society.
You have however, opened my eyes and I thank you for bringing to my attention what I was doing in the past. I’ve done a ton of growing up over the last 3-4 years and I don’t wear cultural items just to be trendy anymore. I do my research, I understand the meaning behind certain items and I continue to educate myself. I will try my hardest not to be as insensitive to other cultures in the future and I would encourage you to keep an open mind just as I have.

Anonymous said: Hey steph, so I've been dealing with depression and anxiety my whole life your video on getting help really inspired me to do the same, but i cant seem to find any place around me that is cheap, what do you recommend me doing? Also, i don't have any support from my family or a job.
It’s extremely hard when you really don’t have any sort of support system. Most places that do specialize in mental health are not cheap, do you by any chance have insurance? If so, see if your insurance will cover any part of it (doctors visits, medication, group therapy, counseling services etc) anything will help. If you do not, see if you can set up a payment plan, many places are willing offer their services while you make payments.
Anonymous said: Were you jealous when Mel was in teen vogue without you lol
No, not at all. I was honestly so proud of her and would tell any and everyone that MY sister was in Teen Vogue :)
Anonymous said: Do you have a depop account?
I do not
Anonymous said: hey steph! when are you and mel going to announce the winners for your competition on the hunt?
We announced them yesterday on twitter.
Anonymous said: When will you guys sell your items online , sites like ebay or poshmark?! I love your style and I'm never as lucky to score the things you and Mel do ;/
That’s a good question, I’m not sure. Melissa and I have talked about it before, we just need to do some research. I know other shop owners put a lot of time and effort into running their shops and if we ever did start selling some of our stuff, I would want it to be easy and convenient for you guys. But have no fear, you will be the first to know if we ever do intended on opening some sort of online shop!
Anonymous said: Stephhhh I'm at a loss on how to style the AA yacht stripe fisherman sweater since its so bold! Please help :/ stay cool xoxo
That is bright! I like how they styled it in the pictures with just denim shorts, but I would probably do all black. Black jeans, black ankle boots or flats and some sort of hat. I’m not sure what the climate is like where you live, but I hope this helps
